Watch Maintenance Facts
Have you ever noticed how everyone is willing to sell you a watch, but no one is interested in telling you how to keep your timepiece in good condition? Well, we love to pass this sort of watch maintenance information along. So we have dedicated a page toward providing you with suggestions on maintaining your timepiece.
- Do not allow severe impacts on hard surfaces.
- Silver oxide batteries (used in most watches) last an average of 1.5 - 2 years. If you think you are approaching this point you should get your battery changed. Dead batteries can harm the operation of your watch.
- The integrity of your water resistance should be checked at least once a year.
- We strongly recommend you never take your watch into a hot shower, Jacuzzi, sauna, or hot tub. Yes, your watch is water resistant, but it is not heat resistant or soap resistant. These substances can cause damage to your watch.
- Operating the buttons or pulling out the crown when the watch is wet or under water is not recommended.
- If your watch is mechanical be sure to wear it at least 8 hours a day.
- To be sure your watch is operating properly it should be serviced at least every 3-5 years.
- If your timepiece is a Citizen ECO-Drive, or a Casio Tough Solar, we recommend you do not store your timepiece in a dark area for a period longer then 6 months. If your timepiece is stored in the dark for longer then 6 months expose it to bright sunlight for 24 hours before bringing in for maintenance. It might just need to charge.
